Finis “Tony” Bailey

Tuesday, December 11, 2012, Finis “Tony” Bailey passed away at home in Moore, Oklahoma. He battled Lymphoma. Tony was born on December 14, 1940 in Ada, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of twelve children born to Floyd and Bonnie Bailey. Tony graduated from Del City High School in 1959. He worked for 28 years at Tinker after completing an apprenticeship program. Tony specialized in aircraft maintenance and support. He was an Equipment Specialist on the F-111 fighter/bomber, the TF33 engine on AWACs and Air Force One. Before retiring in 1988, he worked on the Atlas and Titan missiles. In retirement he refurbished boats. He loved being on the lake. He bought and sold over 800 boats. Tony loved music, and began performing in church at 6. He played guitar and banjo and was the main vocalist with the Gospel Troubadours. Tony wrote several songs, both with country and gospel an in the early 1970s released a record. In the 1970s Tony joined the group Country Gospel ministering throughout OK & TX. Tony shared his love of music with his children and grandchildren. Tony married the love of his life Helen Darlene Murray on October 10, 1962. He and Darlene lived in OKC and Moore. He was predeceased by his first daughter, Bonda Leigh, 1964. He is survived by his wife of the home, daughter, Elizabeth and Steven Michael of Norman, son Alan and Alyson Bailey of Moore. He is also survived by his in-laws Hershal and Helen Murray, grandchildren Chris and Caitlin Winters, Nicolas and Natalie Bailey, Jeremy Michael, and great granddaughter Ellie Michael. Tony was preceded in death by sisters Marie Drake, Sybil Stowers, Rogenia Brown, Mozelle Wood and brothers Joe Bailey, Gene Bailey and Jerry Dan Bailey. He is survived by sisters Faye Jones, Violet Tabor, and Avis Cosby. No family tree data is available.
